Current Action Items:

  1. DONE: URS Application from Martin Sanda: Robert Bresalier will write a letter of approval to Dr. Sanda.
  2. Future of EDRN Reference Sets: The Working Group members will discuss the organ site reference sets at each of their monthly collaborative group meetings.
  3. Liver Reference Set: Srikanta Dash, PhD, Southeast Louisiana Veterans Heath Care System/Tulane University Health Sciences Center, New Orleans: Matt Young will respond to the applicant.
  4. DONE: HEDS Liver Reference Set: Amit Singal, MD, The University of Texas Southwestern: Robert Bresalier and Stephen Deppen will write a response to Dr. Singal.
  5. Yingye Zheng to meet with Statistical Working Group to discuss specimen sets being used for discovery.
  6. Matt Young will locate the list of GLNE 010 Stool/DNA that Sandy Stass previously sent and re-distribute to the DMCC and Bob Bresalier. Update: Robert Bresalier is still working on finding a home for these specimens—working with a company and negotiating the details.
  7. GLNE 010: Robert Bresalier will check with Ziding Feng about the composition of the specimens and deal with unblinding since the specimens are not being used for the study.
  8. Bob Bresalier will follow-up with Xianghong (Jasmine) Zhou’s regarding her email about whether 1ml will work for their DCP Rapid 50/50 request:  Robert Bresalier stated that Dr. Zhou is tweaking their assay so that the volume of specimen needed is less because more than 1 mL is too much. Dr. Bresalier will follow up with her.

Discussion:

Review of Applications:

Martin Sanda, MD, Emory University, URS Reference Set: Will use post-DRE urine Asking for 10 mL of cell-free urine supernatant. Will have 4 batches-first batch is to find RNA yield for a go-no go benchmark. Preliminary data good. The assay has 28 markers. The proposal as a whole is very well written. The statistical section is excellent. The AUC is already at .75, so the applicant should strive for an improved performance. The group approved the application.  Robert Bresalier will write a letter to Dr. Sanda.

EDRN Specimens at FNLCR: Matt Young reported that Frederick wants to reduce the number of specimens they have stored for EDRN because of anticipated budget cuts.  Matt Young reminded everyone to discuss their organ site reference sets at their next collaborative group calls.  If the specimens are moved out of FNL, then the DMCC isn’t responsible for monitoring the set. The data will be unblinded and sent to the site that will house the specimens. Charles Rosser is interested in the Bladder Cancer Reference Set. Indu Kohaar and Matt Young will take the information to the NCI leadership.

Next Call: Wednesday, August 6th at 8 a.m. Pacific/11 a.m. Eastern.
